Description

Human GSDMA ELISA Kit

Human GSDMA ELISA kits are used to detect Gasdermin A (GSDMA) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. GSDMA is a member of the gasdermin family of pore-forming proteins expressed mainly in the epithelium of the skin, stomach and oesophagus. The full-length protein is an autoinhibited precursor that also acts as a sensor of infection. During Streptococcus pyogenes infection, the bacterial protease SpeB cleaves it in epithelial cells and releases the N-terminal fragment, which binds lipids of the inner membrane leaflet, oligomerises and forms pores 10 to 15 nanometres in inner diameter. These pores permeabilise the membrane and trigger pyroptosis, an inflammatory form of cell death. GSDMA is therefore studied in epithelial innate defence, inflammation and cell death, and genetic variation near the gene has been associated with asthma and inflammatory skin disease.
