Description
Human GUK1 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human GUK1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Met1-Ala197, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 23.89 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Guanylate kinase is a ~21 kDa protein. Catalyzes the phosphorylation of GMP to GDP. For research use only.
Essential enzyme for recycling GMP and indirectly, cyclic GMP (cGMP). Involved in the cGMP metabolism in photoreceptors. It may also have a role in the survival and growth progression of some tumors. In addition to its physiological role, GUK1 is essential for converting prodrugs used for the treatment of cancers and viral infections into their pharmacologically active metabolites, most notably acyclovir, ganciclovir, and 6-thioguanine and its closely related analog 6-mercaptopurine.
