Description

Human HAP1 ELISA Kit

Human HAP1 ELISA kits are used to detect Huntingtin Associated Protein 1 (HAP1) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. HAP1 is a neuronal protein first identified through its binding to huntingtin, an association that is enhanced by an expanded polyglutamine repeat. Both proteins are involved in intracellular trafficking, and HAP1 is proposed to link huntingtin to motor proteins and cargo. It supports vesicular transport in neurons and axons, including axonal transport of BDNF, trafficking of APP, delivery of GABA-A receptors to synapses via the kinesin KIF5, and autophagosome motility, and it promotes neurite outgrowth. It has also been implicated in feeding behaviour and in cerebellar, brainstem and postnatal neuronal development. Because mutant huntingtin disrupts these transport functions, HAP1 is studied in Huntington disease and other neurodegenerative research.
