Description

Human HCCS ELISA Kit

Human HCCS ELISA kits are used to detect Holocytochrome C Synthase (HCCS) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. HCCS (holocytochrome c synthase), also called cytochrome c heme lyase, is a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the covalent attachment of the heme group to the cytochrome c apoprotein, converting it into mature, functional holocytochrome c. This step is essential for the electron-transfer role of cytochrome c in the mitochondrial respiratory chain and for its role in triggering apoptosis when released into the cytosol. The HCCS gene lies on the X chromosome, and variants cause linear skin defects with multiple congenital anomalies 1, a disorder involving skin, eye, brain and heart abnormalities that is lethal in utero for males. HCCS is therefore studied in mitochondrial biology and developmental disease.
