Description

Human HVD3 ELISA Kit

Human HVD3 ELISA kits are used to detect 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 (HVD3) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 (HVD3), also known as calcifediol or calcidiol, is the main circulating metabolite of vitamin D3. It is formed in the liver when vitamin D3, made in the skin on exposure to ultraviolet B light or taken in through the diet, is hydroxylated at carbon 25 by CYP2R1 and related enzymes. It is then converted in the kidney and other tissues to the active hormone 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, which regulates calcium and phosphate homeostasis and bone mineralisation. Because it has a long half-life and reflects both dietary and cutaneous supply, 25-hydroxyvitamin D is the standard indicator of vitamin D status. Low levels may be associated with rickets, osteomalacia and osteoporosis, and have been linked with a range of other conditions.
