Human IFT57 Recombinant Protein (N-His-SUMO & C-Strep)

Human IFT57 Recombinant Protein (N-His-SUMO & C-Strep) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Ala36-Gly160, with an N-terminal His-SUMO tag and a C-terminal Strep tag. Predicted molecular weight: 28.06 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Intraflagellar transport protein 57 homolog (IFT57) is a ~49 kDa protein. Required for the formation of cilia. For research use only.

Plays an indirect role in sonic hedgehog signaling, cilia being required for all activity of the hedgehog pathway. Together with RAB23 and KIF17, it is required for the localization of specific G protein-coupled receptors, such as dopamime receptor DRD1, to primary cilia. Has pro-apoptotic function via its interaction with HIP1, leading to recruit caspase-8 (CASP8) and trigger apoptosis. Has the ability to bind DNA sequence motif 5'-AAAGACATG-3' present in the promoter of caspase genes such as CASP1, CASP8 and CASP10, suggesting that it may act as a transcription regulator; however the relevance of such function remains unclear.
