Description

Human IL-40 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human IL-40 ELISA kits are used to detect Interleukin 40 (IL-40) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. IL-40 is a small secreted protein encoded by the C17orf99 gene and is described as a probable B cell-associated cytokine. It is expressed in tissues such as bone marrow, fetal liver and mucosal sites and is thought to take part in the regulation of humoral immune responses. Studies indicate that it supports B cell development and the production of immunoglobulins, with a particular role in IgA production. Because of this link to antibody responses at mucosal surfaces, IL-40 is of interest in studies of gut immunity. Altered levels have been reported in autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren syndrome, though its biology is still being defined.
