Description
Human IL5 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human IL5 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Ile20-Ser134, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 16.31 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Interleukin-5 (IL5) is a ~15 kDa protein. Homodimeric cytokine expressed predominantly by T-lymphocytes and NK cells that plays an important role in the survival, differentiation, and chemotaxis of eosinophils. For research use only.
Also acts on activated and resting B-cells to induce immunoglobulin production, growth, and differentiation. Mechanistically, exerts its biological effects through a receptor composed of IL5RA subunit and the cytokine receptor common subunit beta/CSF2RB. Binding to the receptor leads to activation of various kinases including LYN, SYK and JAK2 and thereby propagates signals through the RAS-MAPK and JAK-STAT5 pathways respectively. IL5 is the therapeutic target of mepolizumab (Nucala).
