Description

Human ITGb5 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human ITGb5 ELISA kits are used to detect Integrin Beta 5 (ITGb5) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ITGb5 is the beta-5 subunit of integrin alpha-V/beta-5, a heterodimeric cell surface receptor that mediates adhesion to the extracellular matrix. The alpha-V/beta-5 integrin is a receptor for fibronectin and vitronectin and recognises the Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) sequence in its ligands. It is found in many cell types, including epithelial cells, fibroblasts and some tumour cells, and it contributes to cell adhesion, migration, activation of latent TGF-beta and angiogenesis. The integrin also acts as a receptor for adenovirus type C, helping the virus to enter cells. ITGb5 is therefore studied in cell-matrix interactions, fibrosis, tumour biology and viral entry.
