Description

Human KLK8 ELISA Kit

Human KLK8 ELISA kits are used to detect Kallikrein 8 (KLK8) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. KLK8, kallikrein 8 or neuropsin, is a secreted serine protease of the kallikrein family expressed in the hippocampus and other brain regions, in skin, and in some other epithelial tissues. It degrades substrates including casein, fibrinogen, kininogen, fibronectin and type IV collagen, and it cleaves the adhesion molecule L1CAM in response to neural activity. In the nervous system it induces neurite outgrowth, contributes to the formation and maturation of synaptic boutons in the Schaffer collateral pathway, regulates long-term potentiation and is required for memory acquisition and synaptic plasticity. It is also involved in skin desquamation and keratinocyte proliferation. Altered KLK8 expression has been reported in some cancers.
