Description

Human KRT1 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human KRT1 ELISA kits are used to detect Keratin 1 (KRT1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. KRT1 is a type II keratin and a structural component of intermediate filaments in suprabasal keratinocytes of stratified epithelia such as the epidermis. It forms heteropolymers with type I keratins, notably keratin 10, assembling into networks that give mechanical strength and structural stability to differentiating epidermal cells. KRT1 may also regulate kinases such as PKC and SRC through interactions with integrin beta-1 and RACK1, and with C1QBP it forms a high-affinity receptor for kininogen-1. Variants cause epidermolytic hyperkeratosis, with blistering and ichthyotic erythroderma at birth followed by hyperkeratosis, so KRT1 is also a marker of epidermal differentiation.
