Description

Human KRT19 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human KRT19 ELISA kits are used to detect Keratin 19 (KRT19) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. KRT19, or cytokeratin 19, is the smallest type I keratin and a structural component of intermediate filaments in epithelial cells. It forms filaments by heterodimerising with the type II keratin KRT8, providing mechanical integrity to epithelia such as those of the gut, bile ducts, lung and breast, and it is also found in the intermediate filament network of skeletal muscle fibres alongside desmin and KRT18, where it contributes to force transmission. Fragments of KRT19 are released from dying epithelial cells, and a soluble fragment known as CYFRA 21-1 may be elevated in the circulation in lung and other carcinomas, so KRT19 is used as a marker of epithelial tumour cells.
