Description

Human KRT9 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human KRT9 ELISA kits are used to detect Keratin 9 (KRT9) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. KRT9 is a type I cytoskeletal keratin that is expressed in the suprabasal keratinocytes of the palmoplantar epidermis, the thick skin of the palms and soles. It pairs with a type II keratin to form heteropolymeric intermediate filaments, and these networks give the epidermal cells the mechanical strength needed to withstand friction and pressure. Because its expression is so restricted, KRT9 serves as a marker of palmoplantar differentiation. Mutations in the gene cause epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma, an autosomal dominant condition marked by diffuse thickening of the skin on the palms and soles, so the protein is of interest in genodermatosis research.
