Description

Human LDHB ELISA Kit

Human LDHB ELISA kits are used to detect Lactate Dehydrogenase B (LDHB) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. LDHB is the heart or H subunit of lactate dehydrogenase, a cytosolic enzyme that interconverts pyruvate and lactate while cycling NADH and NAD+. Lactate dehydrogenase works as a tetramer, and subunits rich in LDHB favour the conversion of lactate to pyruvate, which suits tissues with a high oxidative demand such as heart muscle, brain and kidney. By coupling glycolysis to redox balance, LDHB helps cells adjust to changing energy supply. Altered LDHB expression has been reported in several cancers, where it may relate to metabolic reprogramming. Inherited LDHB deficiency is reported to cause no clear illness, but it matters in laboratory medicine because it can distort the interpretation of total serum LDH measurements.
