Description

Human LGMN ELISA Kit

Human LGMN ELISA kits are used to detect Legumain (LGMN) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. LGMN, or legumain, is a lysosomal cysteine protease also known as asparaginyl endopeptidase, with a strict specificity for cleaving peptide bonds after asparagine and a slower activity against aspartyl bonds under acidic conditions. It is involved in processing proteins for MHC class II antigen presentation in the lysosomal and endosomal system, and in MHC class I cross-presentation in dendritic cells through maturation of Perforin-2. Legumain is required for normal lysosomal protein degradation in renal proximal tubules and for the degradation of internalised EGFR, thereby influencing cell proliferation. Elevated expression has been reported in many solid tumours and in inflammatory and cardiovascular conditions, so it is studied as a potential biomarker in cancer and immunology.
