Description

Human LOR ELISA Kit

Human LOR ELISA kits are used to detect Loricrin (LOR) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. LOR, or loricrin, is the major protein component of the cornified cell envelope of keratinocytes. It is rich in glycine, serine and cysteine, is synthesised in the granular layer of the epidermis as insoluble keratohyalin granules, and is cross-linked to other envelope proteins by transglutaminases as keratinocytes undergo terminal differentiation. This forms a tough, insoluble protein layer beneath the plasma membrane that is essential for the barrier function of the skin and for its mechanical strength. Mutations in the loricrin gene cause Vohwinkel syndrome with ichthyosis, and a related disorder called progressive symmetric erythrokeratoderma, with palmoplantar keratoderma, and altered loricrin expression has been associated with atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.
