Human MAO-A / Monoamine Oxidase A ELISA

MAOA (Monoamine Oxidase A) is one of two neighboring gene family members that encode mitochondrial enzymes which catalyze the oxidative deamination of amines, such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. MAOA inhibitors are a type of antidepressant medication. They work by increasing the levels of two chemicals in the brain, serotonin and norepinephrine. MAOA inhibitors are used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Diseases associated with MAOA include Brunner Syndrome and Antisocial Personality Disorder.
