Description

Human MAU ELISA Kit

Human MAU ELISA kits are used to detect Microalbuminuria (MAU) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. MAU, or microalbuminuria, is the presence of small amounts of albumin in urine, above the normal range but below the level detected by standard dipstick protein tests. Albumin is the most abundant plasma protein and is normally retained by the glomerular filtration barrier, with the small amount that passes through largely reabsorbed by proximal tubule cells. Increased urinary albumin excretion therefore indicates damage or dysfunction of the glomerular barrier or the vascular endothelium. It is regarded as an early marker of kidney injury, particularly in diabetic nephropathy and hypertension, and is also associated with higher cardiovascular risk. Monitoring urinary albumin helps follow disease progression and treatment response in renal and metabolic research.
