Human MBD2 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Glu145-Ala411, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 32.02 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Methyl-CpG-binding domain protein 2 (MBD2) is a ~43 kDa protein. Binds CpG islands in promoters where the DNA is methylated at position 5 of cytosine within CpG dinucleotides. For research use only.
Binds hemimethylated DNA as well. Recruits histone deacetylases and DNA methyltransferases to chromatin. Acts as a component of the histone deacetylase NuRD complex which participates in the remodeling of chromatin. Acts as a transcriptional repressor and plays a role in gene silencing.
