Description
Human MFN2 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human MFN2 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning His20-Arg400, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 45.36 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Mitofusin-2 (MFN2) is a ~86 kDa protein. Mitochondrial outer membrane GTPase that mediates mitochondrial clustering and fusion. For research use only.
Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles, and their morphology is determined by the equilibrium between mitochondrial fusion and fission events. Overexpression induces the formation of mitochondrial networks. Membrane clustering requires GTPase activity and may involve a major rearrangement of the coiled coil domains (Probable). Plays a central role in mitochondrial metabolism and may be associated with obesity and/or apoptosis processes.
