Description
Human MGMT Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human MGMT Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Met1-Asn207, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 23.81 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Methylated-DNA--protein-cysteine methyltransferase (MGMT) is a ~21 kDa protein. Involved in the cellular defense against the biological effects of O6-methylguanine (O6-MeG) and O4-methylthymine (O4-MeT) in DNA. For research use only.
Repairs the methylated nucleobase in DNA by stoichiometrically transferring the methyl group to a cysteine residue in the enzyme. This is a suicide reaction: the enzyme is irreversibly inactivated.
