Description

Human MIA1 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human MIA1 ELISA kits are used to detect Melanoma Inhibitory Activity Protein 1 (MIA1) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. MIA1, also known as cartilage-derived retinoic acid-sensitive protein (CD-RAP), is a small secreted protein produced by chondrocytes during cartilage development and by malignant melanoma cells. It was first identified through its ability to inhibit the growth of melanoma cells in culture, and it also affects other neuroectodermal tumour cells such as gliomas. MIA1 interacts with extracellular matrix components including fibronectin, which influences cell attachment and migration, and it contributes to cartilage formation. Its level has been studied as a marker of tumour progression and metastasis in melanoma and may also change in cartilage disorders such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
