Description

Human MINA ELISA Kit

Human MINA ELISA kits are used to detect MYC Induced Nuclear Antigen (MINA) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. MINA, also known as MINA53 or NO52, is a nuclear and nucleolar protein induced by the oncogene MYC. It is a 2-oxoglutarate- and iron-dependent oxygenase of the JmjC family that acts both as a histone demethylase, removing methyl groups from trimethylated lysine 9 of histone H3 (H3K9me3), which increases ribosomal RNA expression, and as a ribosomal histidine hydroxylase that modifies the 60S ribosomal protein L27a. Through these activities it influences ribosome biogenesis and protein synthesis, and it may play an important role in cell growth and proliferation. MINA is highly expressed in many tumours, including lung, colon and liver cancers, where levels have been associated with poor prognosis, so it is studied as a cancer marker.
