Description

Human MPL ELISA Kit

Human MPL ELISA kits are used to detect Myeloproliferative Leukemia Virus Oncogene (MPL) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. MPL, the myeloproliferative leukaemia virus oncogene product, is the thrombopoietin receptor, also called c-Mpl or CD110, a cytokine receptor expressed on haematopoietic stem cells, megakaryocytes and platelets. It binds thrombopoietin and regulates haematopoietic stem cell renewal, megakaryocyte differentiation and platelet formation. Ligand binding induces rapid tyrosine phosphorylation and activation of JAK2, which provides docking sites for signalling proteins such as STAT5, SHIP, GRB2, SOS1 and PI3K, leading to the proliferation, survival and differentiation of megakaryocytes and increased platelet production. Platelets also remove thrombopoietin through this receptor, helping to regulate its levels. Loss-of-function mutations cause congenital amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia, and activating mutations occur in myeloproliferative neoplasms, so MPL is a key target in haematology and thrombopoietin receptor agonist development.
