Description

Human MSMb ELISA Kit

Human MSMb ELISA kits are used to detect Microseminoprotein Beta (MSMb) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. MSMb, or beta-microseminoprotein, also called prostate secretory protein of 94 amino acids (PSP94), is a small cysteine-rich protein secreted in large amounts by the epithelium of the prostate into seminal plasma, where it is one of the most abundant proteins. It is also expressed in other secretory epithelia, and it binds immunoglobulin, which gave rise to the alternative name immunoglobulin-binding factor. It is thought to have roles in fertility and in suppressing follicle-stimulating hormone release, hence the name inhibin-like. Its levels in tissue and blood tend to fall in prostate cancer, and a genetic variant near the gene is associated with hereditary susceptibility, so MSMb is studied as a prostate cancer biomarker.
