Description

Human MuRF1 ELISA Kit

Human MuRF1 ELISA kits are used to detect muscle-specific RING-finger protein 1 (MuRF1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. MuRF1, encoded by TRIM63, is a muscle-specific RING-finger E3 ubiquitin ligase that targets muscle proteins for proteasomal degradation. Its substrates include creatine kinase M-type, GMEB1, HIBADH and cardiac troponin I, and it regulates the breakdown of muscle proteins when amino acids are scarce while also inhibiting new protein synthesis. MuRF1 may also influence myofibril organization through titin and regulate an anti-hypertrophic PKC-mediated signaling pathway. Its expression is strongly induced in muscle atrophy caused by disuse, denervation, cachexia and glucocorticoids, so MuRF1 is widely used as a marker of muscle wasting. Variants affecting TRIM63 have also been associated with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
