Description

Human NAPSA ELISA Kit

Human NAPSA ELISA kits are used to detect Napsin A Aspartic Peptidase (NAPSA) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. NAPSA, napsin A, is an aspartic protease related to pepsin and cathepsin D. It is expressed mainly in type II pneumocytes of the lung and in the kidney, and it may be involved in the processing of pneumocyte surfactant precursors, in particular the maturation of surfactant protein B. Within the cell it is found in lysosomes and related compartments. Because its expression is largely restricted to lung and kidney epithelium, napsin A is widely used in diagnostic pathology as a marker of lung adenocarcinoma and of renal cell carcinomas of papillary type. Altered napsin A expression has also been associated with prognosis in lung cancer, so NAPSA is studied in pulmonary biology and oncology.
