Description

Human NAT2 ELISA Kit

Human NAT2 ELISA kits are used to detect N-Acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. NAT2 is a polymorphic arylamine N-acetyltransferase that catalyses the N- or O-acetylation of arylamine and heterocyclic amine substrates, using acetyl-CoA as the acetyl donor. It is expressed mainly in the liver and gut and participates in the detoxification of many hydrazine and arylamine drugs, such as isoniazid, while also being able to bioactivate several known carcinogens. Common genetic variants divide people into rapid, intermediate and slow acetylator phenotypes, which differ in drug clearance and in the risk of adverse drug reactions such as isoniazid-induced liver injury. Because acetylator status has also been associated with susceptibility to certain cancers, such as bladder cancer, NAT2 is studied in pharmacogenetics and toxicology.
