Description

Human NRXN1 ELISA Kit

Human NRXN1 ELISA kits are used to detect Neurexin1 (NRXN1) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. NRXN1 is neurexin-1, a neuronal cell-surface protein produced as long alpha and shorter beta isoforms and involved in cell recognition and adhesion. It forms intercellular junctions by binding to postsynaptic partners such as neuroligins and takes part in the formation of synaptic junctions. The beta isoform, together with cerebellins and the postsynaptic GRID1 receptor, forms a trans-synaptic complex that transduces presynaptic signals into postsynaptic NMDA receptor responses and helps regulate NMDA and AMPA receptor activity at hippocampal synapses without affecting synapse formation. Because of its central role in synaptic function, NRXN1 has been associated with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia, in which gene deletions have been reported.
