Description

Human NSMAF ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human NSMAF ELISA kits are used to detect Neutral Sphingomyelinase Activation Associated Factor (NSMAF) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. NSMAF, neutral sphingomyelinase activation associated factor, also known as FAN, is a WD-repeat adaptor protein that couples the p55 TNF receptor, TNFR1, to neutral sphingomyelinase. It binds specifically to the neutral sphingomyelinase activation domain of the receptor and may thereby regulate the production of ceramide, a lipid second messenger that influences apoptosis, inflammation and cell stress responses. Through this pathway NSMAF helps connect tumour necrosis factor signalling to sphingolipid metabolism. It also participates in other processes, including cell migration and actin reorganisation. NSMAF is therefore studied in TNF receptor signalling, sphingolipid biology, and inflammatory and metabolic disease research.
