Description

Human Oct6 ELISA Kit

Human Oct6 ELISA kits are used to detect Octamer-binding transcription factor 6 (Oct6) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. Oct6 (POU domain, class 3, transcription factor 1, also known as POU3F1 or SCIP) is a transcription factor that binds the octamer motif ATTTGCAT and is expressed in the developing nervous system, in Schwann cells and oligodendrocyte precursors, in the skin and in embryonic stem cells. It can activate transcription cooperatively with SOX family proteins such as SOX4, SOX11 and SOX12, and it represses myelin-specific genes during early stages of glial development, so it helps time the onset of myelination by Schwann cells. It also regulates neural differentiation and the transition of pluripotent cells toward neural fates. Because it is transiently expressed at the promyelinating stage, Oct6 is used as a marker of Schwann cell differentiation.
