Description

Human OP ELISA Kit

Human OP ELISA kits are used to detect Opioid Peptide (OP) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. Opioid peptides are a group of short endogenous peptides, including the enkephalins, endorphins, dynorphins and nociceptin-related peptides, that bind to mu, delta and kappa opioid receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors. They are produced from larger precursors such as proopiomelanocortin, proenkephalin and prodynorphin and are found throughout the central and peripheral nervous system, the pituitary and the adrenal gland. Opioid peptides modulate pain perception, stress responses, mood, reward, and also affect gastrointestinal motility and endocrine and immune function. Levels of these peptides change with chronic pain, stress, addiction and inflammatory conditions, and they are studied as markers of neuroendocrine activity and as targets in analgesic drug development.
