Description

Human OS9 ELISA Kit

Human OS9 ELISA kits are used to detect endoplasmic reticulum lectin (OS9) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. OS9 is a lectin of the endoplasmic reticulum that was first identified as a gene amplified in osteosarcoma. It is a component of the HRD1 complex, which runs endoplasmic reticulum quality control and ER-associated degradation. OS9 recognises and binds terminally misfolded glycoproteins and hyperglycosylated proteins, retains them in the ER and hands them to the ubiquitination machinery so that they are degraded by the proteasome. Reported substrates include TRPV4 and hyperglycosylated HSP90B1. By clearing faulty proteins, OS9 helps protect cells from ER stress. Altered OS9 levels have been associated with the unfolded protein response, with several cancers and with diseases caused by misfolded secretory proteins.
