Description

Human OxHDL ELISA Kit

Human OxHDL ELISA kits are used to detect Oxidized high-density lipoprotein (OxHDL) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. OxHDL, oxidized high-density lipoprotein, is formed when HDL particles are modified by reactive oxygen and nitrogen species or by enzymes such as myeloperoxidase, which alter their protein and lipid components, particularly apolipoprotein A-I. Native HDL has protective functions, including reverse cholesterol transport, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity and support of endothelial function. Oxidation impairs these properties, so that OxHDL is less able to remove cholesterol from cells and can instead promote inflammation and endothelial dysfunction. It has been associated with atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, diabetes and chronic kidney disease, and it is studied as a marker of dysfunctional HDL and oxidative stress in cardiovascular research.
