Description

Human PDCD4 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human PDCD4 ELISA kits are used to detect Programmed Cell Death Protein 4 (PDCD4) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. PDCD4 is a tumour suppressor protein that inhibits translation initiation and cap-dependent translation, probably by hindering the interaction between EIF4A1 and EIF4G and by inhibiting the helicase activity of EIF4A. It also modulates activation of JUN kinase and down-regulates MAP4K1, thereby suppressing events important for tumour invasion, such as MAPK activation and JUN-dependent transcription, and it may play a role in apoptosis. PDCD4 inhibits neoplastic transformation induced by tumour promoters and binds RNA. Reduced PDCD4 expression has been reported in many cancers, in part because of microRNA-21 and degradation after phosphorylation, so PDCD4 is studied as a prognostic indicator and as a regulator of inflammation.
