Human PHLPP1 Recombinant Protein (N-His)

Human PHLPP1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Ser1168-Thr1425, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 30.31 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. PH domain leucine-rich repeat-containing protein phosphatase 1 (PHLPP1) is a ~184 kDa protein. Protein phosphatase involved in regulation of Akt and PKC signaling. For research use only.

Mediates dephosphorylation in the C-terminal domain hydrophobic motif of members of the AGC Ser/Thr protein kinase family; specifically acts on 'Ser-473' of AKT2 and AKT3, 'Ser-660' of PRKCB and 'Ser-657' of PRKCA. Isoform 2 seems to have a major role in regulating Akt signaling in hippocampal neurons. Akt regulates the balance between cell survival and apoptosis through a cascade that primarily alters the function of transcription factors that regulate pro- and antiapoptotic genes. Dephosphorylation of 'Ser-473' of Akt triggers apoptosis and suppression of tumor growth.
