Description

Human PRSS1 ELISA Kit

Human PRSS1 ELISA kits are used to detect Protease, Serine 1 (PRSS1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. PRSS1, serine protease 1, also known as cationic trypsinogen, is the most abundant trypsinogen isoform secreted by pancreatic acinar cells as an inactive zymogen. In the duodenum, enteropeptidase cleaves off its activation peptide to give trypsin I, a serine protease that cuts after lysine and arginine residues and that in turn activates other pancreatic digestive enzymes. Active trypsin cleaves synthetic substrates such as Boc-Phe-Ser-Arg-Mec, and the single-chain form is more active than the two-chain form. Gain-of-function variants in the gene cause hereditary pancreatitis, characterised by recurrent inflammation, permanent destruction of pancreatic tissue, maldigestion and severe abdominal pain. Trypsinogen levels in the blood or urine may be elevated in acute pancreatitis, so PRSS1 is studied as a marker of pancreatic injury.
