Description

Human PSMa5 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human PSMa5 ELISA kits are used to detect Proteasome Subunit Alpha Type 5 (PSMa5) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. PSMa5, proteasome subunit alpha type 5, also called the macropain zeta chain, is an alpha subunit of the 20S core proteasome. Seven alpha subunits form each of the two outer rings of the barrel-shaped core, where they act as a gate controlling entry of substrates and contact the regulatory particles. When associated with two 19S regulatory particles, the core forms the 26S proteasome, which degrades ubiquitinated proteins in an ATP-dependent way and so disposes of damaged or no-longer-needed proteins. As part of this machinery, PSMa5 contributes to protein quality control and signalling, and its altered expression has been reported in cancers and in neurodegenerative and cardiac conditions.
