Human PTCH1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Glu122-Leu249, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 17.11 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Protein patched homolog 1 (PTCH1) is a ~160 kDa protein. Acts as a receptor for sonic hedgehog (SHH), indian hedgehog (IHH) and desert hedgehog (DHH). For research use only.
Associates with the smoothened protein (SMO) to transduce the hedgehog's proteins signal. Seems to have a tumor suppressor function, as inactivation of this protein is probably a necessary, if not sufficient step for tumorigenesis.
