Description

Human RFK ELISA Kit

Human RFK ELISA kits are used to detect Riboflavin Kinase (RFK) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. RFK, or riboflavin kinase, is an enzyme that catalyses the phosphorylation of riboflavin, or vitamin B2, to form flavin mononucleotide, and it is therefore the rate-limiting enzyme in the synthesis of the cofactors FMN and FAD, which are required by many oxidoreductases. Beyond this metabolic role, RFK is essential for TNF-induced production of reactive oxygen species. Through its interaction with both the TNF receptor TNFRSF1A and the NADPH oxidase subunit CYBA, it couples the receptor physically and functionally to NADPH oxidase, and TNF activation of RFK may enhance incorporation of FAD into the oxidase, a critical step in its assembly and activation. RFK is therefore studied in vitamin metabolism, redox biology and inflammatory signalling.
