Description

Human SESN2 ELISA Kit

Human SESN2 ELISA kits are used to detect Sestrin 2 (SESN2) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. SESN2, or sestrin 2, is a stress-inducible protein expressed in many tissues that acts as an intracellular leucine sensor and as a negative regulator of the mTORC1 signalling pathway. When leucine is scarce, sestrin 2 binds the GATOR2 complex and prevents mTORC1 activation, whereas leucine binding disrupts this interaction and allows mTORC1 signalling. SESN2 is induced by hypoxia, endoplasmic reticulum stress and DNA damage, and it also protects cells against oxidative and genotoxic stress, partly through promoting AMPK activity and antioxidant responses. By restraining protein translation and growth under stress, it helps maintain metabolic homeostasis. Altered SESN2 levels have been associated with ageing, diabetes, neurodegeneration and cancer, so it is a frequent target in metabolism and stress biology.
