Description

Human SETDB1 ELISA Kit

Human SETDB1 ELISA kits are used to detect Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SETDB1 (SETDB1) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. SETDB1 is a histone methyltransferase that trimethylates lysine 9 of histone H3, a modification that marks chromatin for transcriptional repression. It acts mainly within euchromatin, where the H3K9me3 mark recruits HP1 proteins and works in coordination with DNA methylation to silence genes. SETDB1 is brought to chromatin by partners such as TRIM28 together with KRAB zinc-finger proteins, the HUSH complex, and the MBD1 and ATF7IP complex, and it helps keep endogenous retroviruses and developmental genes silent in embryonic stem cells. It has also been implicated in silencing tumour suppressor genes downstream of activated KRAS in colorectal cancer cells, so it is studied in epigenetics, stem cell biology and cancer research.
