Human SHH Recombinant Protein (N-His)

Human SHH Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Pro36-Ala193, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 20.21 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Sonic hedgehog protein (SHH) is a ~49 kDa protein. The C-terminal part of the sonic hedgehog protein precursor displays an autoproteolysis and a cholesterol transferase activity. For research use only.

Both activities result in the cleavage of the full-length protein into two parts (ShhN and ShhC) followed by the covalent attachment of a cholesterol moiety to the C-terminal of the newly generated ShhN. Both activities occur in the endoplasmic reticulum. Once cleaved, ShhC is degraded in the endoplasmic reticulum.
