Description

Human SIRT3 ELISA Kit

Human SIRT3 ELISA kits are used to detect Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. SIRT3 is the major NAD-dependent protein deacetylase of the mitochondrial matrix and a member of the sirtuin family, expressed at high levels in metabolically active tissues such as heart, liver, kidney and brown fat. It regulates mitochondrial proteins by deacetylating key lysine residues, with known targets including ACSS1, IDH2, GDH, SOD2, PDHA1, LCAD and SDHA, and it contributes to regulation of cellular energy metabolism and tissue ATP levels. In response to metabolic stress it deacetylates FOXO3 to promote mitochondrial DNA transcription, and it controls ceramide metabolism and hepatic lipogenesis. It can also remove other acyl groups, such as benzoyl and lactoyl. SIRT3 has been associated with ageing, oxidative stress defence, cardiac hypertrophy, metabolic disease and cancer.
