Description

Human SIRT6 ELISA Kit

Human SIRT6 ELISA kits are used to detect Sirtuin 6 (SIRT6) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. SIRT6 is a nuclear NAD-dependent enzyme of the sirtuin family with protein deacetylase, deacylase and mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activities, and it plays an essential role in DNA damage repair, telomere maintenance, metabolic homeostasis, inflammation, tumorigenesis and ageing. It deacetylates histone H3 at lysines 9, 18 and 56, suppressing the expression of target genes of transcription factors including NF-kappa-B, and by doing so it can cause transcriptional pausing. SIRT6 acts as a sensor of DNA double-strand breaks, recruiting repair proteins such as SMARCA5, and it also deacetylates non-histone proteins such as DDB2 and p53. These activities have linked it to extension of lifespan in model organisms, so SIRT6 is widely studied in ageing, metabolism and cancer.
