Description
Human SMC4 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human SMC4 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Arg81-Ala236, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 20.09 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Structural maintenance of chromosomes protein 4 (SMC4) is a ~147 kDa protein. Central component of the condensin complex, a complex required for conversion of interphase chromatin into mitotic-like condense chromosomes. For research use only.
The condensin complex probably introduces positive supercoils into relaxed DNA in the presence of type I topoisomerases and converts nicked DNA into positive knotted forms in the presence of type II topoisomerases.
