Human SMYD2 Recombinant Protein (N-His)

Human SMYD2 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Met1-His433, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 51.83 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. N-lysine methyltransferase SMYD2 is a ~49 kDa protein. Protein-lysine N-methyltransferase that methylates both histones and non-histone proteins, including p53/TP53 and RB1. For research use only.

Specifically trimethylates histone H3 'Lys-4' (H3K4me3) in vivo. The activity requires interaction with HSP90alpha. Shows even higher methyltransferase activity on p53/TP53. Monomethylates 'Lys-370' of p53/TP53, leading to decreased DNA-binding activity and subsequent transcriptional regulation activity of p53/TP53.
