Description

Human SNAP25 / Synaptosomal-associated protein 25 ELISA

Synaptic vesicle membrane docking and fusion are managed by SNARE proteins (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptors) on both the vesicle (v-SNAREs) and target (t-SNARs) membranes. The v-SNARE/t-SNARE complex comprises a group of four helices, one of which is derived from v-SNARE and the other three from t-SNARE. The protein syntaxin provides one helix and SNAP25 or Synaptosomal-associated protein 25 contributes the other two for t-SNAREs in the plasma membrane. SNAP25/Synaptosomal-associated protein 25 is a presynaptic plasma membrane protein that is involved in the control of neurotransmitter release. Myasthenic syndrome, congenital 18 and developmental and epileptic encephalopathy are examples of diseases linked to SNAP25. HIV life cycle and synaptic vesicle pathway are two pathways influenced by it.
