Description

Human SNPH ELISA Kit

Human SNPH ELISA kits are used to detect Syntaphilin (SNPH) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. SNPH, or syntaphilin, is a neuronal protein that is anchored to the outer face of axonal mitochondria and to microtubules, and it also associates with synaptic vesicle membranes. Biochemically it inhibits SNARE complex formation by absorbing free syntaxin-1A, which gives it a potential role in controlling the assembly of fusion complexes and neurotransmitter release. In axons syntaphilin acts as a static anchor that holds mitochondria in place by linking them to microtubules and so reduces their motility, helping to position the organelles near presynaptic sites with high energy demand. Reduced syntaphilin allows more mitochondrial movement and has been associated with enhanced axon regeneration after injury, so SNPH is studied in synaptic transmission, mitochondrial transport and nerve repair.
