Description

Human SPN ELISA Kit

Human SPN ELISA kits are used to detect Sialophorin (SPN) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. SPN, or sialophorin, also known as CD43 or leukosialin, is the predominant sialylated surface glycoprotein of leukocytes, especially T cells. It regulates T-cell activation, proliferation, differentiation, trafficking and migration, and it connects to the actin cytoskeleton through ERM proteins to help guide cells to lymph nodes. SPN disfavours Th2 differentiation and promotes Th1 commitment, boosting interferon gamma production and expression of the IFNGR and IL4R cytokine receptors. It acts as a major E-selectin ligand mediating the rolling and recruitment of Th17 cells during inflammation and serves as a counter-receptor for SIGLEC1. Its cytoplasmic tail can protect cells from apoptotic signals. Altered CD43 expression is seen in some leukaemias and lymphomas, and the protein is studied in immune cell trafficking.
